Once the painting is finished, I carefully take a digital image of it with the same camera, then use professional image editing software to compare the image with the original painting and make any necessary corrections.  I then send it to David Holland at Dace Digital (see Link) who produces a limited number of full sized prints for me.  David is a perfectionist and dedicated to producing quality work at very reasonable prices.  Lastly, I mount and frame the prints at home.
You may have a particular photo - a house, a spouse, or a pet, which you may consider turning into a painting.  If so, send it to me by email or post.  Once I see it, I can advise you on suitability, price etc.
Here you can see the actual painting and the photo opposite.
I have worked in pure water colour and Designers Gouache, which is unbeatable for fine work but mostly in acrylics.  It was only in 2005 that I seriously attempted oils.
Because my children are all grown up and married, I am able to utilize two or three rooms at home to paint and frame pictures.  I love photography so it is both enjoyable and convenient to simply go out into nature to photograph subjects to paint.
In an afternoon, I might take dozens of pictures but may only choose one to paint from.
I connect my camera (Samsung Pro 815) into my PC and study the images, select one and print it out at A4 size to use as a reference.  I then think about colours, composition, changes etc.
